31 Ene Annette BEM
Monday, 20th November was a very proud day for the Elche Children’s Care Home. The British Ambassador, Simon Manley, travelled down from Madrid to present the charity’s founder, Annette English with the British Empire Medal. The ceremony was held at Restaurant La Finca Vuelta in Formentera del Segura, and was attended by Annette’s family and friends, ECCH volunteers and directors of the Children’s Home, past and present.
Simon Manley gave a warm and gracious speech commending Annette on her commitment, creativity and persistence, especially praising her for the fact that she had chosen to spend the last 14 years helping the children of Spain and thanked her on behalf of the British Government.
Annette then asked her husband David English to join her as she said a few words. She told those present that she would not have been able to achieve anything without Dave constantly by her side as he was her rock, and she then thanked the fundraisers, volunteers and media for their help and support from the very beginning, making the charity what it is today.
The volunteers of Elche Children’s Care Home would like congratulate Annette and Dave on their overwhelming achievements in transforming the lives of the hundreds of children who have passed through the Home and to say that we are very privileged to be working alongside such a kind and inspirational couple.
